We’ve created this short guide to help you get set up for minting your very own Happy Quokkas NFT.

Before jumping into the guide, there are a few key terms you should familiarize yourself with:

NFT: Non-fungible token. “Non-fungible” means that it’s unique and can’t be replicated or replaced with something else. For example, a coin or currency is fungible because it can be traded and you’ll have exactly the same thing. An NFT can be anything digital such as digital art, photography, music, and even contracts.

Minting: This is how your digital art becomes a part of the blockchain–a public ledger that is unchangeable and tamper-proof. Similar to the way that metal coins are minted and added into circulation, NFTs are also tokens that get “minted” once they are created. Your digital artwork is represented as an NFT so it can then be purchased and traded in the market and digitally tracked as it is resold or collected again in the future.

Solana: Solana is a blockchain platform specifically designed to host decentralized applications. Solana is considered the fastest blockchain in the world and has the fastest-growing ecosystem in crypto. Solana is also touted for its low transaction fees with every transaction costing under 1 penny!

Now that you know these terms, we can dive into how to purchase Solana and use it to mint your Happy Quokkas NFT.

Step 1: Purchase Solana (SOL) from an exchange or wallet.

The most popular exchanges for purchasing Solana are Coinbase, FTX, Crypto.com, and Binance. Each exchange has its own policies and transaction fees so we encourage you to do your research to find which is the best option for you.

To mint a Happy Quokka, you’ll need roughly 1.11 SOL but make sure to buy at least 1.2 SOL to cover transaction fees.

Step 2: Download Phantom Wallet.

Phantom Wallet is one of the most popular wallets for accepting Solana. This is the wallet where your Happy Quokka NFT will be sent once it’s minted.

To download Phantom Wallet, head over to https://phantom.app

Please note that Phantom Wallet only supports the following browsers:

  • Chrome
  • Brave
  • Firefox
  • Edge

Add it to your appropriate browser and it should install as an extension.

It should look like this after you’ve installed it:

Important: Phantom Wallet is only available on desktop, not mobile! They plan to release mobile integration next year.

Step 3: Transfer your SOL to Phantom Wallet.

Once you have Solana (SOL) in an exchange, now you have to move the SOL to your Phantom Wallet.

First, copy your Phantom Wallet’s address. To do that, simply open your Phantom Wallet and then click on the address found at the top.

Once you click on it, it’ll copy the wallet address to your clipboard. Then, go back to the exchange you previously purchased the SOL and select the “transfer” or “send” option. Paste the wallet address from Phantom to send the funds there.

Step 4: Time to mint your Happy Quokka!

Now that you have your Phantom Wallet loaded with SOL, you are all set to mint a Happy Quokka NFT! :)
